As a complement to the periodic publications on the economic repercussions of public development aid in Switzerland, this independent study examines the development of purchases of goods and services by multilateral organisations from Swiss companies during the decade beginning in 2000. It analyses Switzerland's role compared with that of other industrialised and emerging countries. The results show that Switzerland is in a very good position among the suppliers of the United Nations and of the World Bank.
Beginning with the early days of Swiss development efforts following the Second World War, and right up to present times, this richly illustrated book sketches, in chronological sequence, the key events marking Swiss development cooperation, humanitarian aid, and cooperation with Eastern Europe, placing them within an international context. Author: Daniele Waldburger, Lukas Zürcher, Urs Scheidegger

Policy Sector Development And Cooperation
This brochure (93 pages) explains the relevant instruments of economic promotion used by the Swiss Development Cooperation (such as microcredits, markets for the poor M4P, employability, value chains). The analysis uses a gender perspective and a rights-based approach, taking into account the care economy, in order to illuminate the conflict areas of a development cooperation that rests on the premise of economic growth. The authors use expert contributions and conversations with people working in development cooperation and illustrate their arguments using concrete case studies.

The Annual Report on Switzerland's International Cooperation contains the most important results of the SDC and SECO's engagement in the fight against poverty and reducing global risks.
The approval process for projects within the frame of the Switzerland's Enlargement Contribution unfolded in a satisfactory manner. Numerous projects that had been approved in the previous years were able to be further implemented according to plan. 14 June 2012 marks the end of the commitment period for the Enlargement Contribution to the benefit of the EU 10. After the commitment period has come to an end, the competent authorities in Switzerland and in the partner countries will provide information on all of the approved projects. A first status report is planned to be published in June and an expanded status report in autumn 2012.
