The FDFA is deeply dismayed at the blow dealt by this barbaric act to the concerted efforts of all involved countries to free the hostages. The FDFA offers its sincerest condolences to the relatives and to the British government. Our thoughts are with the grieving relatives in Great Britain and the relatives of the Swiss hostage who continue to hope with all their hearts for the speedy release and return of their loved one.
No true religion and no worldview dedicated to the well-being of all humans can condone the killing of innocent people. Together with the British authorities and the world community the FDFA condemns this extreme violation of human dignity.
Together with all concerned parties and particularly with the close co-operation of Amadou Toumani Touré, President of Mali, the FDFA continues its efforts to set the last remaining hostage, a Swiss citizen, free.
