The FDFA is concerned about the situation in the Chinese province Xinjiang

It calls on all sides to exercise restraint in order to prevent an escalation of violence. It urges the Chinese authorities to respect democratic rights, especially freedom of expression and freedom of the media, and to ensure the rule of law in all respects. Switzerland expresses its condolences to the families of the victims of the tragic events.  

The FDFA stresses the importance of transparent investigations of the incidents. The FDFA will continue to monitor the situation in Xinjiang closely.
